It was back in 1931 that 211 local milk producers decided that to preserve their independence and make top-quality cheeses, they would set up the Coopérative de l’Ermitage. The company is in Bulgnéville, a small town in the Vosges mountains, and is still entirely owned by the coopérateurs, or milk producers, although nowadays there are over a thousand of them.
Ermitage has developed considerably over the last 85 years, but the company has always managed to keep faithful to its traditions, its culture and its skills.
